Proudly introducing five innovative designers and architects who are
pushing the boundaries of material and form.

Five distinct and bright voices creating new and exciting accessories and objects.

la mollla®

la mollla® designer and architect Tiziana Redavid has proven that great design is intemporal.

Initially inspired by the stainless steel springs on the floor of a friends' car industry factory in Turin, Tiziana used her architects and artist's sensibility to devise an innovative jewellery collection which she launched in 1997. Tiziana Redavid registered the mark la mollla®, from the italian word molla meaning spring, using three l's to graphically evoke the movement of the spring.

Ten years on, her first '97' bracelet, composed of 97 stainless steel spring bracelets, is ever the best seller. The talented Tiziana divides her time between Paris and Turin and continues to push the boundaries of her successful collection, exploring the multitude of shapes possible with these stainless steel springs. Fifteen separate beautiful and timelessly chic collections have sprung from her imagination from circle to square to cone and diamond shapes, each with the fluid and graceful style which is the hallmark of la mollla®.

Tzuri Gueta / Silka Designs

Paris based textile designer Tzuri Gueta launched SI51, his patented silk and silicone jewellery collection, in 2006 building upon an already successful career developing his silicone and silk textile designs techniques for Haute Couture designers (Givenchy - Jan 07 (detailing on dress worn by Eva Green at the Oscars), Armani, Mugler, Galante etc&elispe;).

Redefining the frontiers of technical textiles, Tzuri Gueta expertly combines active research into the properties of silicone with a clear understanding of textile traditions and a great sensitivity to lines and proportions.

His jewellery generates a sense of wonder, visually evoking marine life such as sea sponges and coral. His creations look like crystals but are soft, natural, light and comfortable to wear.

With insatiable curiosity and a desire to continue pushing boundaries of his techniques, Tzuri Gueta is only just beginning. This passionate and innovative designer is clearly one to watch.

Josh Jakus is a Berkeley, California-based architect and designer dedicated to making experiential connections between form and function. He uses materials in their simplest form so intrinsic qualities show through — and a rigorous design efficiency that strives to get the most impact out of the fewest moves.

An architect by training with an M.Arch from UC Berkeley, Josh uses his understanding of the built environment and how it is inhabited to inform his designs, and he hopes his products will help foster a more intuitive understanding of all objects in the people who use them.

Josh founded his design practice in 2005 as a way of continuing his lifelong interest in the nature of structure, space, and materials. His use of unique properties of pressed wool felt — its density, texture, pliability, and strength and transforms a flat surface into a volume using only the simplest of operations. All items are made from industrial felt (excess fiber from fabric manufacturing) in a lovely example of contemporary sustainable design for the chic city dweller.

Marion Vidal

Fashion designer Marion Vidal creates stunningly bold statement pieces. Made of glossy and mat enameled ceramic pearls, her necklaces are asymmetrically knotted and intertwined with ribbon and beautifully finished with brass hooks.

The crisscrossing of spatial, cultural and fashion influences evident in her work are drawn from both her architectural training in Paris and Milan and her studies in the fashion section of the Royal Academie of Antwerp where she obtained her degree in 2003. She now lives and designs from Paris where she launched her collection in 2006.

The asymmetry, the choice of colors and shapes, and their association, the size and lightness of her pieces and the stories she draws her inspiration from, all contribute to the strength and beauty of Marion Vidal's confident and innovative jewellery designs.

photo: Ring by Kirsten Bak

Danish jewellery designer Kirsten Bak encourages us to rediscover the shapes and materials that surround us with two sculptural collections.

Unicated rings are made of a wooden inner shell and a plastic outer shell. While inspired by classical forms, the rings made from one connected and coherent form. Sections of the rings are cut away encouraging us to focus on what lies beneath the surface and giving birth to uniquely organic yet contemporary shapes.

'BAKS Fair- about man and humanity', supports ecological mining techniques. The metal alloys used are machine extracted not chemically extracted and fair working practices. All pieces are certified and stamped with 'Fair'.

Kirsten Bak who launched her collection in 2006, studied jewellery and industrial design in Germany and Holland, graduating from the Trier Department of Gemstone and Jewellery Design, Idar-Oberstein, Germany, in 2005.
